Interview: Duck Duck Goose
Jacob from Duck Duck Goose had time to answer some questions for us here at GETFUCKEDON.com. They have a tour starting in just over two weeks and are hitting the studio soon, so we're awfully appreciative he could take the time and have a word or two with us.

GETFUCKEDON: Let me start by saying that Noise, Noise, and More Noise is a great album. I play through it at least once a week; when more and more bands are starting to sound like one another it's great to hear something new.
Jacob: Hahaha, sick brother, Thanks so much! Yea we were really happy with the way it came out Dave Swanson is a wizard.
GETFUCKEDON: You don't sound like any other band on the map, any band that I've heard anyway. You guys are really heavy, but equally creative. The acoustic part at the end of "The Wonderful Wizard of LSD" is sick. How did you guys find yourself writing the music you do? Was it natural or was there a lot of experimenting going on at first?
Jacob: We just write what we like. Everyone in the band is super smart and picky, ahaha. We also think about how parts will translate live.
GETFUCKEDON: Your song writing is miles away from traditional. How do these songs end up getting written? Take me through the process.
Jacob: There's really no process, everyone just contributes. Everyone has their ideas, we just work out everyone's ideas until were happy with the song.
GETFUCKEDON: I've been keeping tabs on your guys myspace, and it seems like you're always on the road. When do you find the time to write all these jams?
Jacob: We're slacking in the touring department right now. We have a small tour in June, a few shows here and there, but we always find time to write.
GETFUCKEDON: I've seen you guys live a few times, and they were great shows. Kids were going ape shit, it was like being in the wild west for forty minutes. What do you guys do to make sure you put on a good show for everyone who comes out?
Jacob: We don't really plan anything. We just have such a good time when we play, and I think kids see that and vibe off of it.
GETFUCKEDON: One of the guys from the Duck, Duck Goose camp (it may have been your merch guy) had a bear beanie that rolled down into a mask when I saw you guys last. What's the story behind that?
Jacob: Umm, bear beanie? I don't think that was us mang. Haha, sounds pretty sick though.
GETFUCKEDON: You've had to cancel a few tours, unfortunately. Last year you had to drop a tour with IWABO, and just recently you had to cancel the Dr. Manhattan tour. If you could go back and go on ONE tour that you had to miss out on, what would it be?
Jacob: Definitely the Dman tour, those guys are so awesome and down to earth. We've played with them a lot and a tour would just be crazy. Some interesting things would definitely go down on a Dman/Goose tour, lol.
GETFUCKEDON: So there are two new songs on your myspace, Hellevators and Cosmic Kidnappers, and they're both really good. I imagine all the DDG fans are getting hungry, when are we going to have another CD release?
Jacob: We're actually recording in July, new album called Off yourself. Its gonna be ill.
GETFUCKEDON: Honestly, the two new songs are jams for sure. I think it's sick that some lyrics from "The Wonderful Wizard of LSD" pop up near the end of "Cosmic Kidnappers." If you had to pick a favorite part, whether it be instrumental or lyrical, from the two new songs what would it be?
Jacob: Ummm, not sure. Each part has its own special qualities. They're all fun.
GETFUCKEDON: So, what's the atmosphere like in the studio when you're recording? Is it time to get down to business, or is it pretty casual?
Jacob: It's pretty casual, we just do what we do and try and fit in as much fun as we can.
GETFUCKEDON: You guys signed to Warcon Records, are they fronting the money for the studio time and upcoming tours?
Jacob: They were. We actually parted ways with Warcon. The owner is a "sneaky bitch" ahahahaha. They're not a label anymore.
GETFUCKEDON: No one has any money anymore, and the recession seems to be particularly rough on bands. What steps to you guys have to take to make sure you can still hit the road, afford equipment, and get songs out?
Jacob: We just try and be smart with our money, plays shows and save.
GETFUCKEDON: It's cliché, but it's a must ask: how/who came up with the name Duck, Duck, Goose?
Jacob: It was just a joke gone serious. I don't think we would be where we are today without the name.
GETFUCKEDON: Well, it's incredibly catchy. Thank you guys for taking the time to sit down with GETFUCKEDON.com. We have a few tracks from Noise, Noise, and More Noise in the music player over on the right, we love you guys. Is there anything you'd like to say to any fans/readers before we sign out?
Jacob: Thanks so much to everyone that's down for the goose keep it real.
